Excellent Hotel, close to the Bayeux Tapestry and the jumping off point for D-Day tours.
We were very impressed by the Lion D'Or, particularly the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff which were outstanding. The restaurant was excellent and the accommodation modest but very comfortable. The location was excellent being very central to the town centre and the major historical sites and the shops and restaurants. Once reserved, the parking was good.
As winter was approaching, it was disappointing that the hotel had run out of firewood and that therefore the fire in the lounge could not be maintained. However, only a minor administrative slip no doubt.
Reception was very friendly and helpful. Very nice folks!
Poor wireless in our room. Had to go to hotel lobby for any reception.
Very nice and affordable. The restaurant was very good and the staff at every point bent over backward to be helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
Even though we arrived late on a Sunday evening, we were greeted very warmly by the hotel staff. The room was large and nicely decorated. The public areas were very pleasant and had many pictures of the history of the area. We would definitely stay there again!
Charming hotel in a good location with a historical past.
much lower level of quality than indicated by red guide michelin. a tiny patch of lawn and few flowers. bathroom a shambles of poor plumbing. the air coinditioning was provided by a small fan. old carpets. no elevator.
Bayeux is a great location for touring the D-Day sites, I wouldn't stay in any other town/city. The hotel is right in town, close to dining and shopping. English speaking reception staff.
The hotel is a little worn. There is no elevator although the staff is happy to carry your bags up.
The friendliness of the staff. The hotel room was spacious. Everything was very clean and very nicely decorated. A gourmet restaurant was on premises. The ambiance was very homey and relaxing. The hotel was close to everything, even the train station. The prices were very reasonable.
We liked everything about Le Lion D'or.
It was the perfect hotel for the location, easy access to the Allied Forces Invasion Beaches and the location of the famous Tapestries. Easy walking to local shopping, resteraunts and Saturday market. Excellent dinning room and historic pictures on the walls.
Staff were fantastic, rooms were lovely with real character. Beds huge and comfortable
Restaurant expensive for the quality of food. Staff and service were excellent though
The staff was very friendly and spoke English well. The rooms were very quaint and affordable. The hotel had a wonderful ambiance and history to it.
There were some issues with our shower and TV. The staff worked to remedy these during our stay.
Beautifully French in design, although slightly tired in parts. Food expensive so dined out, but loads of choice so this was not a problem. We would definately stay again if we re-visited the area
Food too expensive and breakfast not included in high room cost
Great location, close to restaurants and bars and places of interest. Ideal base for exploring the Normandy beaches and Bayeux tapestry and Cathedral.
Very tired decor, lacked atmosphere and disappointing food.
Location was good, room was comfortable, breakfast was ok.
Carpets and wallpaper worn out and dirty. W/c too far away from sink for my liking! (Sink and shower located in a separate room from toilet and bidet - not even adjecent to it)
